Boral Cement Maldon Works

The opportunity

The drive motor on Boral Cement’s cement mill at
Maldon had a serious failure in the slip rings and brush
gear, which meant a section of the plant had to be shut
down. As it was an old machine, spare parts were not
available, and we needed to find the right solution to
get them back up and running as soon as possible.

The solution

We arranged for the damaged parts to be driven more
than 1000km to our workshops, where we assessed the
extent of the damage and devised an effective solution
to refurbish and improve the equipment. For three days,
we worked tirelessly to complete the repairs and upgrade
to a modern brush holder to improve performance and
reliability. We have offered ongoing support to Boral Cement
to provide the professional assistance and training they
need to ensure their asset is well maintained and continues
to function optimally.
“I would like o express our
thanks for your efforts
helping us get back on
line with our Cement Mill
Motor. Your response time
was brilliant and the work
was outstanding. The
slipring brush gear was
re-assembled on Saturday
morning and has been
running smoothly since
then. Once again thanks
for all your efforts.”
